Feedback

the overall impression was good, the lighting was unanimously praised and the park location shots were appreciated. The jump/fade shots were popular and were said to add a spooky feel to the flashback, good frame composure was another comment made as well as tense music and a good script. Some negative points were made though, the voice over was said to be clumsy and a boring title font didn’t grip anyone. Some props weren’t seen clearly like the garrotte wire, it would have been good to show a clearer shot of the hetmans weapon with a close up also matt’s costume was criticised for being too normal and didn’t give any impression thathe was supposed to be a hitman. Cinematography was well done, the ending shot was dramatic and the slow zoom was executed professionally, the establishing shot was similarly good, and rule of 3rds framing was followed nicely. Mese en scene was criticised a bit for the poor choice of location as the corridor outside the dark room didn’t look right but the interior lighting was said to be very in keeping with film noir and the feme fetale’s costume gave a good impression of who the dead woman was before she died. Editing was mostly well done except for the titles, the faded jump cuts and dissolve were popular effects and gave the flashbacks a distinctive look as well as good saturation effects. The music was a good choice as it slowly built up tension and suspense. Production values seemed pretty professional to the group and there was a clear narrative with an enigma code. Character representation of young people (or young criminals) didn’t cause any offence and the only really bad point of the production is that matt could have looked older and more hitman-ish. According to the audience of our class our opening does look and feels like film noir and is clearly intended to be a young adult’s film.
